Marcel Luske joins PokerStars
PokerStars (www.pokerstars.com) the world’s largest online poker site, has announced a new addition to Team PokerStars Pro after signing Marcel ‘The Flying Dutchman’ Luske. The highly experienced Dutch poker pro, who won the European Poker Awards ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ in 2008, has had a long and successful professional poker career, with tournament cashes in virtually every country on the globe.
WSOP 2009: Jeff Lisandro wins third bracelet
It seems multiple bracelet wins are the order of the day at the WSOP 2009. Jeff Lisandro has joined the multi-bracelet winners this year by winning his THIRD WSOP bracelet and all three of the successes have been in Stud tournaments.
The $1,500 Seven Card Stud, $10,000 World Championship Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo and $2,500 Seven Card Razz events all belong to Lisandro now. There are few arguments that he is currently one of the best Stud players in the world.
Peter Traply wins first WSOP Bracelet for Hungary
Hungary have tasted WSOP success for the first time following Peter Traply’s victory in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em Shootout event at The Rio in Las Vegas.
Traply, from Budapest, is aged only 22 yet he displayed a composure and aggression which defied his young age. The Hungarian defeated Andrew Lichtenberger in the heads-up stages and was clearly delighted with his victory.
Excalibur Abandon Electronic Poker Tables
Following a short trial period the Excalibur Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas is to abandon their electronic poker tables and return to the previous live dealers. PokerTek Inc, the makers of the tables, and MGM Mirage said yesterday that they would remove the tables by July 5.
The experiment with the tables was met with a mixed reaction from Excalibur poker regulars. The initial curiousity of players quickly led to indifference as players ignored the PokerTek tables and went in search of the live dealer experience.
WSOP 2009 – Lunkin goes close in $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha
Vitaly Lunkin is a man on fire right now. The Russian professional has already chalked up two cashes at this year’s WSOP, including a victory in the $40,000 buy in 40th Anniversary event worth $1,891,018, and earlier today he almost captured the $10,000 World Championship Pot Limit Omaha event.
Lunkin couldn’t overcome Matthew Graham, from the USA, in the heads up stages and had to settle for 2nd place and $419,832 for his efforts.
Danish Supreme Court rules Private Poker Games are Illegal
Frederik Hostrup-Pedersen, head of the Danish Poker Federation, has been found guilty of arranging gambling events and fined 5000 Krona by the Danish Supreme Court.
The court rules that poker games cannot be held privately in Denmark as poker is a game of chance. Only organisations with a gaming licence may now offer poker games legally in Denmark.

WPT adds Cincinatti Stop to Tour
The World Poker Tour (WPT) has recently added European and African stops to their famous poker tour. Now WPT Enterprises are to return to the United States with a new stop on the tour in Cincinatti.
The Hollywood Casino Hotel Lawrenceburg, formerly known as the Argosy Casino Hotel Lawrenceburg, is to host the event which will feature a $10,000 buy in main event which will be filmed for Fox Sports Net.
