PokerStars Smash New Poker World Record
PokerStars have made their way into the Guinness Book of World Records a couple of times in recent years. Now the biggest of online poker rooms is at it again!
‘Stars have smashed their own record for number of players in an online tournament. The old record stood at an amazing 35,000 players. That figure was crushed by the latest tournament designed to attract big player numbers; a $1 entry event with $100,000 added by PokerStars.
Such was the pull of the $100,000 added, 65,000 players logged in to their PokerStars account and bought into the $1 tournament. Over 16,000 made the money but it was player 004 license that beat the biggest field in online poker tournament history to boost his ‘Stars bank roll by a whopping $13,000! Not bad for a $1 outlay!
The finalists finished like this:
1 004 license, $13,000
2 I_SCORPIO_I, $11,000
3 nawyk, $9,000
4 papadragon95, $7,500
5 tjopsjoap, $6,000
6 Vortex2, $4,500
7 Bigbob0630, $3,000
8 FrankyFoReal, $1,750
9 caska_137, $1,250
10 BBRRAASSIILL, $825
It’s hard to imagine any of the current crop of online poker rooms matching or beating the 65,000 player record any time in the near future. PokerStars may, of course, offer a similar event in the future and we may witness the first ever 100,000 player online poker tournament.
