indian_woman-crying The saying goes “You’re not a real poker player until you’ve gone broke”. While that may or may not be true few broke poker players can lay claim to losing a family member during a game. Yet, in West Bengal, India, that’s exactly what addicted gambler Ismail Sheikh did!

Following a rough session in his usual game, Ismail decided against gambling the shirt from his back and instead put up his 18 year old daughter as collateral. The poker Gods dealt Ismail another bad beat and after raising his daughter all in the Indian addict was minus a family member!

Police are investigating the game, Ismail and a man only known as Mustafa who reportedly “won” the girl and left the game with his cash and 18 year old female after Ismail went bust.

Locals eventually traced the girl who is apparently, and understandably, traumatized by the ordeal.

Gambling is illegal throughout India but it is thought many hundreds, if not thousands, of poker dens operate in the rural areas where gambling and alcohol addiction is rife.

Poker News Headlines recommends anybody playing poker in Indian exercises correct family member bankroll management at all times.
