Erik Cajelais leads EPT High Rollers – Vicky Coren Not Impressed!
Fresh from his first place in the WSOPE £2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha tournament, Erik Cajelais has hopped to the High Rollers tournament at the London leg of the EPT. The £20,000 buy-in event attracted 75 runners and as the final table gets set for Friday it’s Cajelais with the advantage.
With 8 players getting paid in this tournament it was always going to be a painful experience for the player in 9th. That player turned out to be Victoria Coren. Vicky found herself racing against AQ with her pocket Tens only for an Ace to fall and send her to the rail but that wasn’t the only reason she was upset…
Twitter users may have followed some of Coren’s tweets from the latter stages of the event. She was far from complimentary about the current chip leader Erik Cajelais. “Down to 16 players, just two tables left. Unfortunately I just lost a pot to nasty Canadian Eric. Vulnerable times now…” said Coren, swiftly followed by; “Amazing. I didn’t think my opinion of this Eric could go down after we met in Vegas this year, but it could! He really is AWFUL.”
Coren then explained she was at a loss as to why Cajelais was so nasty towards her; “He’s just so rude to me for no reason. Combined with the tattoos and vast daft muscles I think.. I think he fears he has something to prove.”
Play resumes on Friday at mid-day UK time. The final eight players and their chip counts are:
Erik Cajelais – Canada – 893,000
Matt Glantz – USA – 647,500
Eugene Katchalov – USA – 530,000
Adolfo Vaeza – Uruguay – 468,000
Leo Fernandez – Argentina – 460,000
Ilari Sahamies – Finland – 311,000
Dennis Phillips – USA – 218,500
Shane Reihill – Ireland – 236,000
