patrik_antonius The high stakes action at Full Tilt Poker has been the main subject of conversation between poker forumites of late. Isildur1, Durrrr and now Antonius are the names associated with the nosebleed stakes and, like many dramas, the action has been full of unexpected twists and turns and even a mysterious player!

Last week we saw Tom “Durrrr” Dwan take a beating from Isildur1. The Swedish player appears to be the latest darling of Internet poker after taking several million dollars from Dwan. To date nobody really knows who Isildur1 is! That fact alone is whetting the railbird’s appetites each time the $500/$1,000 PLO tables swing into action.

Big pots are what the high stakes tables are all about and yesterday we saw the biggest online poker pot in history between Patrik Antonius and Dwan botherer Isildur1. Isildur opened the betting pre-flop with a raise to $3,000. Antonius called and the flop fell: . Isildur lead out with a $5,000 bet. Antonius was quick to raise to $21,000. Isildur called and play went to the turn of: . Antonius liked what he saw and bet out a chunky $48,000. Isildur was going nowhere, though, and raised $192,000. Antonius was not for turning, however, and moved all-in for $415,479.50. Isildur called and the huge pot of $878,958.50 lay in wait for the winner of the hand.

A river was needed to decide who was going to make online poker history. Isildur held whilst Antonius tabled . You could almost sense the collected holding of breath as the river fell giving Antonius the straight.

A blow for Isildur1’s seemingly immortal poker bankroll, perhaps, but once again the Swede continues to dominate the poker headlines. Poker legend Barry Greenstein claims to know Isildur1 personally but refused to reveal his identity. Greenstein’s words have only added fuel to the fire of forum speculation over who the player actually is. In the meantime the poker world sits back and enjoys the highest stakes poker action we’ve ever seen. Long may it continue.
