marcus-bebb-jones British poker player, Marcus Bebb-Jones, was arrested yesterday at the home he shares with his mother in Kidderminster, UK following a US arrest warrant issued in October. It is alleged Bebb-Jones murdered his wife, Sabrina Bebb-Jones, in 1997 in the United States.

Bebb-Jones has tasted great success on the UK poker circuit. The highlight being his Grosvenor Grand Prix victory in 2007 which netted him a £90,000 pay day. He then became a regular face at Nottingham’s Dusk Till Dawn poker club and cashed there in the £300 Deepstack event in April of this year.

Aron Watkins, prosecuting for the US Government, told the City of Westminster Coroner’s Court; “Mr Bebb-Jones is sought for the murder of his wife. He is responsible for the murder, and the deliberate concealment of it for many years.”

“On the weekend following that incident it is said Mr Bebb-Jones went to Las Vegas and spent thousands of dollars – partially using credit cards in his wife’s name.”

“He lived a playboy lifestyle in the course of that weekend which culminated in him putting a gun in his mouth and shooting himself in the head. Whether by judgement or design he didn’t cause any life-threatening injuries to himself.”

He added: “The upshot is that the case against him is very strong. This offence is so serious he faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole.”

Bebb-Jones won’t be appearing in a card room near you any time soon. He was remanded in custody until November 26. The judge in the case will then decide whether he was eligible for extradition before a final decision is made by the UK’s Home Secretary.
