Betfair Poker’s pro’ Annette Obrestad has won the fourth event at the 2010 Aussie Millions bagging a $40,000 first place prize in the process.
Annette, who began the final day in third place behind leaders Oliver Gill and Con Angelakis, made short work of her opponents in this Pot Limit Omaha event. Despite displaying good form on several occasions this was her first victory in a live poker event since his historic 2007 World Series of Poker Europe win.
Annette hit the social networking site Twitter shortly after her win and announced; “Yayyyyy i won!!!!” to all her followers.

The New Year always kicks off with a bang for poker down under as the stars of the game usually head to Melbourne, Australia for the Aussie Millions. This year is no exception as the ‘big boys’ look to add the largest poker honour in the southern hemisphere to their resumes.
681 players took their seats for the 2009 Aussie Millions main event and organisers are expecting an equally good turnout this time around. Stewart Scott eventually took the spoils last year after an epic final table battle which featured Hendon Mobster Barny Boatman. Scott walked away with a $1,381,392 prize for his efforts, illustrating just how big an event the Aussie Millions is.
In 2007 it was Danish poker legend Gus Hansen (pictured) that took the title, pocketing over $1,000,000 in the process.

Tiger Woods may be suffering from various scandals of late but when it comes to sporting comparisons there are still few other options when trying to match Phil Ivey.
Ivey is widely recognised as one of the finest poker players of his generation. Whether it be in cash games, tournaments, strange variations of poker, online or in a card room it’s tough to find a player that has excelled in so many fields like Ivey has.
This is our mini-tribute to Phil Ivey including some facts and figures about the great man but no stories of infidelity or Tiger Woods style car crashes.

The new month hasn’t started off well for the latest online poker sensation Isildur1. The Swedish high stakes player has become the media darling in the last couple of weeks due to huge swings on the Full Tilt Poker nosebleed tables.
After posting some big profits only a couple of weeks ago it seems Isildur1 has been on the slide ever since. Last night saw the Swede take on Brian Townsend, Ilari Sahamies, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius and Cole South. Despite hours of play and thousands of hands in the books it was a disastrous session for Isildur.

While the high stakes poker players continued their nosebleed grinding the UK seemingly let out a collective cheer as tone-death twins John and Edward (Jedward) were eliminated from the popular X Factor TV show. The glum looks on Jedward’s faces could possibly be matched by Isildur1’s this morning. The Swedish sensation was beating up the highest stakes games on Full Tilt less than a week ago, putting Tom “Durrrr” Dwan to the sword on several occasions.
Now it seems the variation bitch has bitten for Isildur1. Only a few days ago he was several million dollars in the black. Today that figure is a relatively small $750,000. So what’s been happening?

It seems a few pundits may have written off Tom “Durrrr” Dwan a little too soon following his poor run against Swedish online sensation Isildur1. Dwan is currently in London to play the Full Tilt Million Dollar Challenge against the likes of Sammy George, Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies and Marcello “Luckexpress” Marigliano.
Dwan arrived in London on the back of one of his worst runs online to date. Isildur1 was the benefactor of the Durrrr downswing. Such was the extent of Dwan’s losses to the Swede it left many questioning if the 23 year old was on the verge of going bust. The action in London proved otherwise as Durrrr hit back in style over three match ups.

Fresh from his first place in the WSOPE £2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha tournament, Erik Cajelais has hopped to the High Rollers tournament at the London leg of the EPT. The £20,000 buy-in event attracted 75 runners and as the final table gets set for Friday it’s Cajelais with the advantage.
With 8 players getting paid in this tournament it was always going to be a painful experience for the player in 9th. That player turned out to be Victoria Coren. Vicky found herself racing against AQ with her pocket Tens only for an Ace to fall and send her to the rail but that wasn’t the only reason she was upset…

Five players returned for the final of the £2,500 Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha tournament at the WSOPE today. Mats Gavatin, Men “The Master” Nguyen and Richard Gryko headed the chip counts as the play got underway. However, none of those well known names are wearing a shiny new WSOPE bracelet this evening as it was Erik Cajelais that came from behind to take the glory.
Cajelais might not be the most recognisable name in London this month but the man from Quebec isn’t short on high stakes tournament results. Although the result here is his first ever WSOP/WSOPE bracelet, Cajelais has much larger cashes to his name.
