Poker has had it’s fair share of crazy prop’ bets down the years. Everything, from racing a racehorse to growing facial hear, has been on the agenda for some of the more fun-loving poker players. The latest prop’ bet is certainly a new one on us here at Poker News Headlines.
The bet in question came up on the latest edition of High Stakes Poker. Tom Dwan suggested to meat loving Phil Ivey that if he didn’t eat any meat (including fish) for the next year then he would pay him $1 million.

You might expect the occassional large pot in a cash game title “Million Dollar” but rarely do you see a pot exceed the one million mark in Full Tilt’s flagship televised cash game.
$1,108,500 found it’s way into the middle of the table when two old rivals, Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan, locked horns. Fellow Full Tilt Poker pro’ Patrik Antonius was also involved in the action but the savvy Finn had step aside from this particular hand before both players held monster hands.
When the turn fell both players held a straight but it was Phil Ivey who was in big trouble…

It’s been an interesting start to 2010 for Phil Ivey. The “Tiger Woods of poker” had his own marital problems in late 2009 which resulted in a divorce from his wife but, if the the single life is anything to judge by, keep away ladies! because Ivey appears to be in better form than ever before.
Yesterday, Ivey claimed 2nd place in the $100,000 buy-in challenge event at the Aussie Millions, a result which was good enough to move him into top spot on the all time money list. Ivey sat just a few hundred thousand dollars behind Daniel Negreanu before the weekend started. His 2nd place in Melbourne earned him $544,219 – enough to move him ahead.

The poker world was in shock yesterday as news was leaked that Phil Ivey had divorced his wife of seven years, Luciaetta.
Ivey, dubbed “the Tiger Woods of Poker” by many, has enjoyed a successful 2009 both in online poker at Full Tilt and in live events. Two WSOP bracelets and a WSOP main event final table added more notable results to Ivey’s ever increasing list of honours in the last year. Financially, the tournament successes were eclipsed by his superb run online as several million dollars were banked from his high stakes play.

Tiger Woods may be suffering from various scandals of late but when it comes to sporting comparisons there are still few other options when trying to match Phil Ivey.
Ivey is widely recognised as one of the finest poker players of his generation. Whether it be in cash games, tournaments, strange variations of poker, online or in a card room it’s tough to find a player that has excelled in so many fields like Ivey has.
This is our mini-tribute to Phil Ivey including some facts and figures about the great man but no stories of infidelity or Tiger Woods style car crashes.

After 15 hours of play, the November Nine WSOP Main Event final, was whittled down to the last two players. Long time chip leader Darvin Moon stayed firm throughout and he will face Joe Cada in the heads up stages of, what seems to be, the never ending 2009 WSOP.
Cada holds the chip lead over Moon as play resumes at 10pm PST today and few are betting against him going on to win the title. Cada is sitting pretty with over twice the amounts of chips that Moon holds. 135,950,000 vs 58,850,000 reads the chip counts.
