The World Poker Tour continues to struggle on in the face of plenty of seemingly very popular tours, both in Europe and the United States. The latest leg of the WPT is at the Aviation Club de France in Paris and we’re already down to 48 players as Antoine Amourette tops the chip counts.
127 players went to the famous Parisian club yesterday with dreams of WPT glory. When the chips were bagged up for the night only 48 remained. Play continues today down to 27 players. With the bubble approaching and €633,902 on the line for first place it seems set to be tense day in the French capital.

While the EPT Grand Final main event reached the final table yesterday, the players with even deeper pockets were settling down for some high rolling action over in the €25,000 buy in high rollers event.
Tobias Reinkemeier from Germany ended the day as the chip leader there with the likes of Sorel Mizzi, Bertrand Grospellier and Luke Schwartz all hot on his heels.
113 players bought into the event and, after several eliminations on Day 1 which saw the likes of Liv Boeree, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Jason Mercier, Vanessa Rousso and Dario Minieri head for the exits, we could be in for a quick days play today before Saturday’s final.

While the dust settles over in Italy at the San Remo EPT, play continues at The Bellagio, in Las Vegas, for the WPT Championship event.
A poor turn out hasn’t deterred some of poker’s biggest names from taking their chances in this $25,000 buy in tournament. A quick glance down the remaining players list confirms that the WPT can still attract high profile poker “celebrities” if nothing else.
Right now it’s Faraz Jaka that leads the pack. Jaka picked up a monster pot in somewhat fortunate circumstances after his
beat the
of Heather Sue Mercer. Mercer was well stacked at the time so the pot of 3.4 million chips rocketed Faza to the top of the chip counts, much to the disgust of Mercer.

The media frenzy that surrounds Isildur1 continues to grow on an almost daily basis. The mysterious Swedish player appeared from nowhere on Full Tilt Poker’s high stakes tables to take the poker world by storm. His swings from huge profits into huge losses are the stuff of legends already and any news about Isildur1 quickly becomes hot property.
Step forward the PartyPoker Big Game IV and, recently sponsored PartyPoker Pro, Tony G. An offer was extended to Isildur1 to attend the Big Game IV. Tony G was to put up the money, airfare and accommodation for Isildur1. After a few days it seemed the Swede had accepted the offer and we’d all finally get to the see the face of the man behind the name.

The PartyPoker Big Game IV starts tomorrow and for the past couple of weeks we’ve been hoping to finally see the mysterious Isildur1 in live action. Sadly, it seems the Swede has decided the limelight is not for him and he has announced to pull out of the 48 hours cash game in London.
It appeared Isildur1 had taken Tony G up on his offer of staking him for the event. But, according to the latest blog by the Australian motormouth, Isildur1 has had a change of heart. Guoga wrote that Isildur1 had sent him a text which read; “Sry for not coming, take care bud.”

It seems the world may finally be seeing the face of the mysterious Isildur1 for the first time as Party Poker have confirmed the Swede will be taking part in their Big Game IV.
Tony G offered to stake Isildur1 in March and it seems the high stakes pro’ has accepted the offer to take part in the London based competition.
Party’s Big Game IV, to be held April 11-13 at the Les Ambassadeurs club in London, will feature several well known poker pro’s including Tony G, but will Isildur1 finally reveal himself or hide his identity behind a mask?

Summer may be on the way but attention is turning to one of the colder poker championships on the calendar. The inaugural NPPC (North Pole Poker Championships) will take place during this year’s WSOP main event as direct competition to the biggest poker tournament around.
Environmentalists have already expressed concerns at holding a poker festival in the North Pole. Jerry Hugtree said; “The carbon footprint of poker players is huge! If you consider the amount of hot air the likes of Tony G and the Devilfish spout then they could all be playing under arctic sea water in no time.”
